Can anyone tell me if it is possible to port landline nuraber to a cricket phone? I am trying to get my mother to give up her landline in exchange for a cricket phone, but she is concerned about losing her old nuraber. Any help is much appreciated!

It is not possible to port a landline to a cell nuraber or vice versa. I am not totally sure why, but my Aunt tried it and it wasn't possible.

Yes it is possible to take a landline to Mobile, they do say it will take up to 5 days but i have seen it be done in like 2 to 3, depending on the landline company, and if they want to be monkeys about it or not, to make things smiple and fast make sure you have this info when you call into Cricket Porting

Name,
Address as it comes on your bill
DOB, SSN(if your phone company has it on file)
Any passworRAB you might have on the account, a PIN nuraber etc etc
your Account Nuraber with the phone company.

i dont have the cricket porting nuraber and im to lazy to find it on my phone lol which i think i left at work, anyhow it should be on the cricket site if not the dealer should give it to you, ill post it in the morning when i get to work. anyhow yeah. having all that info will make things go fast plus it will make it go faster if all that info is also on your cricket account when you start it up.

It will have to depend on the landline provider they have at the moment. In my market we have Verizon as the landline provider. The nurabers can be ported but customers have to sign a non-partner agreement and it can take months to do the port. AT&T in the town next to ours (same cricKet market)is thier provider but I believe you don't have to do through that mess and it takes bout a week.

YEs you can, but make sure you whipped out all the features on the landline phone such as 3 way calling, call forwarding, voicemail.etc. After you do this then you can call cricket and have them port your landline to cricket. It takes about 10 business days.

Thank you for the replies everyone. They were very helpful.

So while waiting for the nuraber to be ported, will her landline no longer work for those 10 days? I'm just curious because she uses it in her business.

the time for wireline to wireless porting is a MAXIMUM of 4 weeks according to the porting rules. it should not take "months" unless you are somehow giving them the wrong info.

I did a landline port for a guy and it took about 2 1/2 weeks. The Cricket porting people are absolutely great to deal with. The hold up was entirely due to Quest not wanting to cooperate. Porting a wireless nuraber takes like 4 hours usually.
