...do I do?!?!? I found a mass of black fur in my garden (it looks like a dead animal, although I do not see bones or a distinctive feature). Next to it is a dead newborn animal, hairless and eyes are still shut. I came back to remove the body and found another tiny animal in the fur, still moving. There may be more.
I called the local SPCA. They said they would only come out only if it is a puppy, not a kitten or other animal. I said I wasn't sure, and they refered me to the dead animal removal line. They told me to call me landlord to have the body remove, no concern about the living animal.
Is there any animal that may lay it's young in fur, or some other explanation?
What do I do? It is raining and cold. I drapped a towel over the area so the baby wouldn't get wet, but not touching it (incase there is a mother). Should I bring it inside? I can't let it die out there, I need to do something...please help, I'm panicing :'(
Lane -- I looked up pictures of newborn rabbits. I just went outside, and it does look kind of similar. I guess I'll just wait, and hope for the best. Thank you so much, your answer was very helpful.
