If u compare the gravitational on the earth due to the sun to that due to the moon, u would find that sun's pull is greater than the moon's pull. However, the tidal effect of the moon's pull is greater than the tidal effect of the sun. Why?

because the sun, is way the heck out there!!

the moon is pulling hard, but in a very close area,...the sun is also pulling very hard,..but at much a wider and father area,..so the effects of the moon is what is going to be noticed to us

maybe because the moon moves in an orbit and spins at the same time?!

common sense man.
