An indicator that changed from blue to yellow in the presence of carbonic acid, was used. Carbonic acid will be formed when high levels of carbon dioxide combine with water. These test tubes were set up:
#1: distilled water and indicator in tube
#2: distilled water, indicator and fish in tube
#3: distilled water, indicator and plant in tube
#4: distilled water, indicator, plant and fish were placed in tube.
The starting color in all test tubes were blue.
QUESTION: Predict the colour changes in each of the test tubes and provide a reason to support your answer.
I can understand how test #2 would turn to yellow because of the carbonic acid formed from the fish from cellular respiration, but what about the others? would #3 change yellow because of photosynthesis?
