i have a test tomorrow
and i don't get the study guide
ok
we're learning about The Contemporary Western World.
there's 2 short answer questions that i don't get

1) does centralized authority always diminish the freedom of minorities?

2) How do resistance groups (like OTPOR) gain power? For what reasons are they able to have success?

thanks in advance (:

1) No, not always. Some centralized authoritarian movements are entirely constituent of minorities. Ex: South Africa, Saddam's Iraq, ect.

2) Usually its because freedoms specific to a groups ideologies are being threatened by the powers that be. In the case of the OPTOR, Milosevic was limiting freedoms of the media and collegiate communities. These groups gain support through public works. Hezballah for example has built hundreds of buildings in Southern Lebenon. The OPTOR has been responsible for several proxy missions into neighboring countries that saught to train revolutionaries abroad.
