Please Help Me! w200i wont start up anymore :(

Hi guys and girls, :sad:
If anyone could give me a hand or point me in the right direction that would be great.
I was mucking around with my w200i today, i added a few games and a couple of .mp3 files to the memory card in my phone.
I went to "safely remove my usb device" and it said it couldnt because its in use...i closed all the folders and nothing was open that should have been "interacting" with my phone so i just pulled the USB cable from my phone (have done this many times with no problem)....
Anyway - i then went to switch my phone back on.
Pushed the power on button, the screen lit up as normal, after about 2 secs it vibrates for half a second then shows me the "sony ericsson logo"
The logo stays on sceen for about 1 sec then vanishes to a lit up blueish screen for 2 secs then unlit screeen for 4-5secs then a white lit screen for 2 secs then unlit screen for 4-5secs then blueish screen for 2 sec then back to unlit for 4-5secs then back to white lit screen and just repeats this over and over.

So i start phone up - get sony logo - blue screen - unlit screen - white screen - unlit screen - blue screen - unlit screen - white screen......etc etc - it only shows teh logo once.

Please does anyone know whats happening or what i can do to fix this.

I have tried removing the memory card and that dosnt change anything, i cannot access the phone via usb anymore either - it just does the same thing as when i try turn the phone on normally.

Please help !
 
This problem could reside on many technical levels, but the first thing you'd want to try is to remove the battery for a few minutes and put it back in. You may also want to try charging the phone and see if that kicks it into power. If both of these attempts fail, then try hooking it up to your PC again and use the SE Update Service (I know you said you can't hook it up to the PC anymore, but for the update service, you have to hold down 'C' before plugging the phone in, which tells it to go into 'flashing mode', so it won't have to turn on at all). If it comes up saying that no update is available, select to re-apply the update. The update basically updates your firmware (the operating system of your phone in other words), and so this will 'reset' the phone (but don't worry, no data will be lost). If none of the above suggestions work, then a more advanced technique will be needed, in which I will happliy assist you with, but give those a shot for now ;) .

I have tried everything you mentioned above and yes, much to my surprise i was infact able to update my phone via the SE Update service , unfortunatly this didnt work as the phone continues to flash when i attempt to turn it on.

Any other tips you can offer would be greatly apreciated, i did ring up the Sony Erricson centre in my country and they said "it defiatly sounds like a service job"
but unfortunatly there is no service centre in my City so i would have to send it away and want to avoid doing this as i will probably have to pay an excessive amount to get it fixed by them.

Well the advanced technique I was going on about would be to carry out the 'service job' yourself. This would involve completely re-flashing the firmware onto your phone by yourself. To put it simply, it's like re-installing the operating system (Windows 98, XP, Vista etc) back onto your computer. The phone is requiring the same sort of operation, only at smaller levels (though more complex...). Basically the phone itself is fine. The camera is perfectly ok, as with the speaker and everything else hardware related. What's happened is that somehow, the Phone's software has become corrupt and it needs a fresh install. This is what Sony Ercisson mean by a "Service Job".

There are two major risks to bear in mind though if you were to do this:

1) If you don't know what you're doing, the slightest slip could end up bricking your phone and you end up with an expensive paperweight

2) Any Editing to the Phone's firmware by yourself would void the phone's warrenty. I know at the moment that dosn't mean much, but if you attempt to fix it and end up screwing up, Sony Ericsson will refuse to set it right as you have voided the warrenty in doing so. SO it may just be worth the wait.

If you wanted to give it a shot, I suggest you research VERY CAREFULLY and to take great care not to rush with any of the tutorials you find. If you have a friend in real life that is good with phones, ask them if they'd know how to re-flash your phone's firmware - it would be a good idea to leave it to someone experienced rather than having to learn yourself.

If there is no other way and you want to go for it, let me know and I'll see if I can get you onto the right track. However, just bear in mind that a long travel to a phone repair service or buying a new phone might be a more sensible option depending on your confidence in attempting a repair yourself... ;)
 
Please can u guide me to get my brothers W200 to life. His phone also just flashes the sony logo and stays on. I had bricked my P1 and i flashed and updated it myself through XS++ and seus. Please Help. :(
 
same ere..i got a sony erikson dat needs flashing i think..once i pulled the the battery out while the music player was playing and it wouldnt turn on after that?? ive been waiting for gberlo to reply so zarphor can go thru the procedure but its been a while and he hasnt so if i could get abit of help here ide be grateful :)
