Please help me jail break my ipod touch 2g?

I have 2.2.1. soft ware and when i go to quick it says my ipod isnt connected or cant check to see if it is please help me figure this out
 
ok well if youre trying to get 3.0 software on your ipod touch 2g it wont work. if youre trying to jailbreak the software 2.2.1 then go to redsn0w.com. there is the official jailbreak for ipod touch 2g OS 2.2.1
there is no jailbreak for ipod touch 2g OS 3.0 yet.
