Please help me, I need some Betta Fish information?

Just give me any information about Betta fish. I don't have one yet and I don't want to get it then have it die a week later. Just please give me some information about Betta's. Manly about the males because I don't know how I would get a female Betta if they don't sell them.

I have a 2 gallon tank but I didn't know if it would be good to add sand or rocks or even anything, what should I add? What plants should I add if even any? What would be the best food? I don't know. D:
 
you might want to get a 5gal tank , Walmart has them and the rocks, water cleaner etc for a real good price, sold together. Males..hmm..they are pretty i know that. I have a male and a female. try Petsmart or any petstore, they normally have females.. they will tell u NOT to put a male and a female together because they will fight..thats partially true. Ive had my female with my male since Nov. and they dont fight. But use the flake betta food, some like dried blood worms. They produce very little waste..Add some fake plants or real, they are practically clean fish, just remember to purify the water with the water conditioner, a filter also works, but is not needed,
 
This is a better source,I deal mostly with marine fish but this seems to be a good resource on how to take care of one,feeding,water and so on.
