Please help!!! maybe a stupid question...

ok so i bought an xv6700 and it should be here tommorow, i want to activate it but i want to port my nuraber over from my AMPd account. So... do i call them and activate the xv6700 and THEN port my nuraber? will they assign me one? or do i tell them to port the nuraber first. From what i'm reading in order for the xv6700 to be flashed you need to enter your MIN... i don't have one b/c i'm not a cricket customer so do i call, get a nuraber, and then enter it and then *228 it AFTER i get the nuraber and enter it as my MIN? Or... do i enter the nuraber i want to port and then tell them i want to port it? I"m confused as you can see and i want to activate this phone as soon as i get it tommorow so any help would be really.... well helpful. Thanks in advance!!!!
 
Yes, call cricket and establish new service, then they'll port your nuraber. They'll assign you a phone nuraber, and then overwrite it with your existing ported nuraber.

When they do this, write down your MIN. For most people, it's their phone nuraber, but when you port a nuraber with cricket, your MIN will be the phone nuraber that they assigned you prior to porting your nuraber.

You don't need to program the MIN into your phone. OTASP will do it for you.

If OTASP doesn't work (senRAB you to verizon's programming), the easiest way around it is to download PRL1039 (you can find it on hofo, but I'm not sure where it is.. you'll have to search)... unzip it, copy it to a minisd card, and then update the PRL manually using EPST in your phone. Then use OTASP to finish the programming.

Ok correct me if i'm wrong here, i'm about to try it.

(sorry i know this is the millionth repost of this info)

1.) get the phone

2.) call in and set up new service telling them i want to port my nuraber

3.) Access the XV6700's ESPT (##778 ~> Talk)

4.) Choose 'Edit' from the menu (Password: 000000)

5.) In each menu in the ESPT that ask for it; enter your area code and phone nuraber. (MIN = Mobile Identification Nuraber) In this case my min is the temp nuraber they gave me

5. Dial *228 - This will initiate the download of the Cricket PRL.

Now assuming this is correct, when i first call in, should i tell them it is a razr when they ask for my ESN? or do they not ask? thanks again for all you're help
 
ok so i did everything and got the verizon activation thing so i uploaded 1039 manually, now i got the cricket programming thing like 10 times and it told me i can't program it? now it says the system is down... please help
 
you're gonna have to wait, most likely. It worked for me earlier today.

Also, there's a link to the new 1040PRL in the cricket PRL thread.. try manually updating to 1040 and then *228 again.
 
Ok i got it working, i called into CS and told them to manually add me. She started the proccess and then i hung up and *228'ed. It worked Yay. Thanks for all the help and i hope this thread finRAB other people and helps them too
 
i'm pissed, i just found out that the center of my screen is dead:( It doesn't respond to touch so now i'm stuck in the slign screen thing(grr...)

Anywho, i do have a theory about the MMS. I used to use the trick on the old school AT&T phones. Wayyyyy back when, att used to be digital only and when they switched to CDMA/1x they locked they're "mms" feature at the time. I had a seam edit that worked on treo's so i'm going to see if i can't apply that theory to the xv6700. It should work, it's just a matter of finding the right H_key. Any suggestions on a good registry editor?
