My Husband and I went to friends for dinner last night, he had about half a bottle of red wine and a normal amount of food.
We came home i went to bed, and he was watching some football. About an hour later I heard him come out of our bathroom and shout, then a huge crash. I jumped out of bed and found him half way down our stairs with his eyes wide open and dead still. He looked exactly like he was dead, staring into space, and no sign of life in his body.
I went hysterical, trying to shake him, slap his face and wake him up, he wouldnt respond, so i ran for the phone to dial 911/999 and he just shot up and woke up and tried to get up but was really disorientated and panicky, he also seemed to be gasping for breath.
We made it to the bed and lied him down and i called an ambulance who came and did some ecg, blood sugar and blood pressure tests, also sats.
They all appeared to be normal, but he was an awful grey colour and felt dreamy headed.
He banged his head when he hit the stairs, but he said he was already out of it before he hit his head and doesnt remember doing that or me screaming.
He seemed to lose about 15 seconds. When i got to him he looked like people do when they are killed instantly like on films, where they just stare into space with no vital signs. I am still vomitting as i am so shocked, everytime i shut my eyes i see my darling Husband looking like he was dead. Obviously he isnt dead, but i am petrified as to what it was.
By the way he is 46 years old.
The ambulance people didnt really know, and he refused to go to the hospital, so we are none the wiser this morning. He is in bed now sleeping and feels spaced out and tired he told me. I have made a Doc appointment for tonight (im hoping he will go). We have private medical insurance so i will be getting a referral to............... WHO? a heart specialist, or a neurologist?
Does anyone have any idea what this might have been? Do people knock themselves out and faint with their eyes open???? I havent experienced anything like this before so i havent a clue what it was. I'm so frightened i watched him all night and keep checking on him every 5 mins now, im so scared he will do it again, it was just like he was dead. I thought he had fallen and broken his neck and was gone. I feel so upset today. I just want to know what it may have been. Hopefully the Doctors will have an idea as i will be insisting on a load of tests.
Any ideas anyone?????? please
