Please help! I'm in college and have been unofficially subpoenaed!?

Any laws regarding subpoena delivery and Military Court Martials? PLEASE HELP!!!?
Situation: I've been out of the Marines since 2009, happily in college minding my own business. I receive a call from Military Justice from my old base saying that I'm going to have to travel back up there. They don't tell me why or anything at first. I call them back, and they literally say: "Oh- nobody's called you yet?" (A week and a half before I'm supposed to be at the trial). Apparantly I'm a character witness in a trial that I'm going to have to fly a couple of states over to RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FINAL EXAMS. I'm taking 16 credits and can't afford to be messed with right now. They said they were going to send me the official subpoena letter TWO WEEKS AGO and I'm supposed to fly out on the 7th. I still haven't gotten one in the mail or in my email, like they said they were going to do...I need that letter so I can show it to my professors/dean in time!!! Why are they messing with me? Is there a law anywhere that says a subpoena letter must be delivered in time for the witness to make adequate arrangements? I have work, too!
They claim they're going to pay for my flight out there and hotel, but I definitely don't want to give them my bank account number until I have that subpoena letter in my hand. Am I right for waiting or will I be held in contempt?
I served four years active duty and am on my second year of inactive reserve. Are they treating me like @#$% because they technically still own me?
