Please help! GF awoke with what looks like fresh burn...no way that's the problem

Hello guys/gals i'm new here, but i'm really scared. My girlfriend awoke today (we slept in) and she had what looked like a small birthmark on her upper back, around her right shoulder, and claimed the whole area hurt to the touch. I know this wasn't there when we went to bed. It looks like a light birthmark or even a very old burn where the skin has discolored. It's been about an hour and it's still painful for her. Please Help!! or point me in right direction. This is very sudden and scary. Thank you so much. -rhinoceron
 
I was thinking that too...looked at pictures of dozens of bites...doesn't fit. It really looks like almost a burn, the more i look at it. Thank you so much for your reply...i'm definately keeping a bite of some sort in mind. Again...thank you!
 
What color is it, texture changes? any swelling?

By chance do you have a waterbed?
