Please help, elevator-stairs riddle!?

In the morning a man wakes up in his hotel room and takes the elevator down into the lobby where he eats breakfast, then he takes it back up. At night he takes it down to eat dinner, after which he climbs the stairs all the way back to the top. He hates doing it, in no way does he want to, he wishes nothing more than to be able to use the elevator. Everyone else can use it at this time. Why does he use the stairs???
Oh, also he lives on the 5th floor, just so you know.
 
well i heard a similar one to this.. he was a midget? he cant reach the top buttons but its a bit weird because he can take the elevator up after breakfast...?
 
He's too short to reach the buttons.
by the time he's finished dinner the elevator operator has gotten off duty and can no longer assist him.
