engine? PLEASE HELP!
Can someone share with me what is expected when you rebuild a marine ford engine? what parts should be replaced and or rebuild?
I have a Ford 351 marine engine, ski nautique, with 1200 hours on it and I had the engine rebuild? It cost me $6000.00? The boat has ran horrible since the rebuild? Never saw a receipt of break down of cost? I continue to spend money as the CARB was bad, RPM is only hitting 36?
PLEASE HELP DEFINE WHAT I SHOULD OF GOT FOR THIS REBUILD?
Thank you SINGLE MOM

An itemised receipt is a reasonable thing to expect when spending that amount!

All new parts (pistons, rings, bearings, seals, paint) machining and cleaning of block etc., all labour and testing.

Why won't the shop give you a cost breakdown or honour the warranty?

Your first stop is the supplier of the service, if the engine worked before the rebuild to a certain performance level it is fair to expect the new engine to match or exceed this - so it comes back to who did what, and then to sort out what the responsibilities of all the parties are.

Sorry, but you got royally ripped off, firstly when an engine is rebuilt it should include carburetor re manufactured or rebuilt, new fuel pump, new plugs and wires, distributor cap, and internal parts of distributor, new fuel filter and oil, could have gotten you a brand new engine for that price, albeit not installed, smells like small claims court to me !!
