Hey guys n' gals, new here but have been lurking for mnths

I know this has been talked about to death on here and i've searched... a lot. i really need a straight forward answer from the real owners before i commit to buying one seeing as most i buy wont have any warranty left.

Q: are the 1098's reliable bikes or not? i've read the many problems from voltage regulator, sprocket recall, fuel line, stalling issues, rad cracking, fairings having the decals bubbling underneath paint etc. Is it Really this bad? how many of you are problem free?

I don't mean to upset anyone...i love these bikes and have wanted one a long time..just hoping for some advice on what to expect or how to avoid issues. I envy those of you that havn't had any problems haha.

I nearly bought a Tricolore, the owner admitted it had stalling issues.. after a test ride this proved to be true.. i can't justify paying 20+grand for a bike that doesn't like to run..

Also, did the '07s have more issues than the '08?

Any advice, comments or experiences so far would be greatly appreciated. Thank you advance

Besides the recalls, I had a gas leak out of the overflow tube even though the tank wasn't over-filled. After a little arm-twisting by my dealer it was replaced under warrenty. After that, approx 2000 miles with no trouble.

Sprocket/VR recall done. Termi slip on kit at delivery. All she's needed was gas/oil changes and tires. Will be coming up to 7500 service next year.

Glad you got that one sorted out. Funny how dealers can be your best friend or worst enemy.

Also, if a recall hadn't been done yet on a used 07/08 lets say. would the dealer still do the recall free of charge even after it had exchanged hands?
If my Vin shows it's affected by any or all recalls doesn't that give me some rights?
