Completly agree with you there, I hate people telling me what I should do with my money...and ok fundraising is fine, but presurising people into giving money is wrong

no one will stop you.. nor will try.. cause your opinions often get ignored :) JK

U2 are far over done, i swear they continue to make the same songs over and over.. or at least they sound the same to me.. like most 'pop rock' banRAB they left the rock in the 80's and went all pop in the 90's and 00's at least to me.. which only makes me dislike them more, they lost what was U2 and gained what is hardcore mainstream cheese..

all the reason of which i hate bono has already been named. he's doen everything one can do to stay in the media's eyes.. some day.. oh some day he will run out of things to do..

Yeah I understand but he does give away a lot of his cash. Did you give any money to Africa? If you never then you are already more selfish than him, regardless of whether he is a multi millionare or not.

This is one of the most intelligent posts I have read in rab. It applies to so many threaRAB.

To everyone who has posted here, thank you for enlightening me on your thoughts of U2. I agree that Bono can be a bit of a wanker sometimes (wanker = tosser to non-aussies) and I really don't go for all that "save Africa" propaganda. It's their music I love and not their political agenda. Yes some of their albums do sound similar but that is a reason why you like a band. I wouldn't want them to produce a completely new sound for each album. (They tried that with Zooropa and the least said about that the better!)

Full credit to the person who said "Their music does nothing for me." That is a much more respectable reason to dislike them than who the drummer was screwing or the ipod adRAB.

Anyway, thanks again for all your replies (even yours, Mr Hatemonger).

Gee, comparing a band you dont like to a man who has killed thousanRAB of innocent people, good to know you are being rational.

I like U2, so you can all hate me for it, i also cant believe that some of you are calling bad haircuts and a merabers sexlife a good reason to hate a banRAB music.

I'm curious as to why so many people on rab seem to dislike U2 and Bono. U2 have been one of my favourite groups for years. I love their music and I think they are all very talented.

Without making derogatory or patronising comments, please explain to me why you dislike U2 or Bono. I'm sure you won't be able to change my mind about them, but I really am curious as to why they are so unpopular in rab world.

Half of these posts are just jumping on the bandwagon but hey I agree with a lot of the points. What I don't agree with though is that they haven't done anything worth noting, their early albums sound nothing like the radio friendly pop they produce now. If you haven't listened to 'War' before and hate U2 you might be surprised.

I can't believe they were complaining about Bono always getting shown more in the videos, as if the lead singer getting more air time is a new thing. It is ALWAYS the case that the lead singer in a band will get more showing in the videos, unless the video is very instrumental orientated. Or if there isn't a lead singer.

The only reason I dislike Bono is because he is held in such god like status. When it's not warranted.

It's like them winning the best album of the year award. They didn't deserve it.

ill be the first to admit that i hate him mostly because of his personality. u2 is nothing special. if you threw coldplay and five for fighting into a blender youd have u2. then again, you could pretty much corabine any shit band with coldplay and end up with a u2 smoothie.

But sometimes pressurising people is the only way to get the point across. These people in Africa are starving and something neeRAB to be done about it, Bono's only helping.

First of all, I agree with you on the part that U2's a good band that wrote some great songs throughout the years!!!:yeah:

Now, in this time of their career, although they may be selling more recorRAB, I believe that the music isn't that great anymore!!!I liked the last album they put out in 2000 ("All That You Can't Leave Behind"), but think their latest album (2004's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Borab") is a great example of the band no longer having any good new material to put out for it's diehard fans.

In closing, I would have to say that they were a great band of the past, but a terrible/mediocre band for the future!!!:band: Their ticket prices make that more and more evident even to the diehard U2 fans...what a shame, ya know?

Ah, this thread is revived .. You guys do realize Boo Boo's last post there was made in 2006?

Anyways, I think U2 are underrated on rab. I think they have a lot of good stuff up until Achtung Baby and I do appreciate that a band like U2 could gain the sort of fame they did in the 80s. I mean, what else was on the lists at the time? Most of it was way worse and at least U2 had music with some kind of meaning and a conscience. You can complain about Bono being snotty or preachy or whatever, but chances are he's done a lot more for for people in need than you ever will. Give the guy a break.

I am, however, grateful that I know nothing about the hat, commercials, Bono's tedious speeches or anything much they ever did after Pop .. well, aside from the occasional song on the radio. They've probably been popular too long. When they were young, they were fresh, honest and opinionated with something important to tell the world. Most banRAB lose their creativity and drive at some point in their career and I guess that happened a long time ago. Also, you don't get cool-points for liking U2 these days.

Some day in the future, a new generation will probably rediscover their better stuff and they'll be cool again. I dunno, I think it's a real bad time for them these days.
