Is it bad for the environment to leave a car running for no reason? I ask this question because it is one of my biggest pet peeves and it seems to be happening all around me. We had a guy come out to our house tonight to give us an estimate on paving our driveway and he left his truck running the whole 45 minutes he was here. I wanted to say something but I don't want to sound like a freak but in the meantime steam was shooting out of my ears!

I sit in the parking lot at my daughters school every afternoon to pick her up and there are cars running all around me for 20+ minutes. We don't live in extreme weather conditions that would require heat or a/c but people just seem to be ignorant.

It's like a bad dream - everywhere I turn there is an ignorant person sitting in their car with it running for extended periods of time. How can I refrain from getting so incredibly irritated by this? Am I making a mountain out of a mole hill? Please help me!!

Cars have been idling for longer than you or I have been on this earth.

What has happened to all of those exhaust gasses? The answer is, they have broken down and the elements recycled into other compounds. That's how our environment works.

I am not advocating people waste their gasoline like that, but the truth is, nature has a way of dealing with waste products.

Rather than worry about cars idling, you need to be concerned about your vanishing freedoms. Criminal politicians are making use of hoaxes like "Global Warming" to undermine our Bill of Rights.

It's not the planet you have to worry about, it's your freedom.

Yes, it is a waste, and no you are not making a mountain out of a molehill. Write your congressperson and demand that they pass the cap and trade act. Also, demand that they tax oil and electricity to the point that it is almost impossible to use.

Our current rate of waste, greed and consumption is unsustainable.

Please read on for the explanation.

The problem is with Greed of Surplus. If humans would begin living off the land using only what is needed for the day, we would not have so much WASTE of resources.

Look at what we have, huge shopping markets instead of forests. These markets rely on coal burning for electricity to keep a surplus of so-called food that also poisons the body which in turn create health care problems.

Capitalism and consumption have been destroying the Earth since it began, and American capitalism is the worst offender. For some reason this is thought of as progress. Polluting the Earth in order to satisfy our own selfish comforts.

Until humans can get back to basics, using only what is needed on a daily basis in terms of food, clothing, and shelter we are doomed to flooding, spread of disease, extinction of wild life and much more.

I hope gas goes up to 20 dollars a gallon, then people will stop. Raise electrical/gas use to 2000 a month flat rate. The bloated sheep in the West will not stop this destructive behavior unless it hits their precious bank accounts.

A single volcanic eruption puts off more gasses then all the cars in the world. Our planet still survives. All thoes people r doing is wasting money. Thats there problem. Dont let it bug u. Instead just laugh and think, Wow, I just saved a bunch of money by switching to Geco Power!
