Kiddy Thinks An Analysis Essay
Alison Gopnik’s “kiddy thinks” first appeared in “guardian weekly” and adapted from a chapter in “the science in the crib” In this essay Gopnik aspires to convince her readers with evidence from experience and help from other psychologist, that babies use scientific theories to aid in the process of their intellectual development. “very young children have the same strategies as scientists.” She suggests that babies are a lot like adults in that they are capable of thoughts and feelings.
The main point made in Alison Gopnik’s essay is a persuasion that babies are born with extraordinary minds and learning abilities which are exercised by using scientific systems and help from other individuals. She arranges her studies in stages through an age timeline as following; Newborn babies can recognize emotions of humans and understand that an adult’s face is like their own; 9 month olds they start to understand emotions and can tell the difference between them.
