Please advice, roommate broke bike and refuse to fix it!!?

My roommate asked one day if he can ride my 600 bucks motobecane bike, and let him try it. Later he called me back that he falls and broke it but promised he is gonna fix it, he put it in the basement and let it settle down there for over seven months. Each time I mention the repair he told me don't worry I am going to fix it. Finally I decided to take the bike to a bike shop and they quoted 212 bucks for repair, when I gave him the bill, he said that's too expensive and refused to repair it so now it is sitting in the bike shop...What should I do to have my bike repaired? Thx for repair...
 
If you are unable to intimidate him into forking over the money, you're out of luck. He's obviously not going to voluntarily hand it over. Best you separate yourself from this loser.
