Playstation 2 PS2 Slimbox vs. Regular sized PS2?

Someone just purchased a PS2 Slimline for me and I am wondering what the difference between it and the older more larger version. (Besides the obvious in size.) Are there any functional differences? Such as component connections or firmware differences? Thank you!
 
well the bigger PS2 opens in a different way and the bigger PS3 has a better cooling fan and that all i can think of
 
I think the only two difference's is that obviously it's smaller and the slim one has no fan like the regular has.
 
The "fat" one has a slot for HDD (CPU - 294 Mhz), slim doesn't have it, but it has Ethernet connection and newer versions have CPU 299 Mhz. Fat's power supply is built in, slim - external power supply (except newest slim - it has a built-in power supply too).
 
only real difference is the ethernet port on the back, the fat ps2's needed an adapter
 
the slim one has an ethernet port, while the original one needed a network adaptor. the slim one opens like a CD player, while the original one came out like a CD drive on a computer. thats basically it except for size
 
there is no difference in playing the machine, i have the classic one and you can put it sideways,
with the new one, you have to put it on the floor or in my mates case his vcr ps if you want to change disks, with the old ps2 you have to have the power on, but with the new one you dont, both play ps1 games
 
The slim has an ethernet plug in the back so you don't need a network adapter to play online, while the original ps2 needs a network adapter for online gameplay.
