NBA is on every day on standard channels- two games a day often
NHL playoffs is relegated to about 3 minutes per day on espn

ya I guess it is because of viewership?
why is hockey not more popular overall?
is it because anyone can get a ball and bounce it, but it takes much more work to even just learn how to skate, much less play a complex game whil. doing so? (and the gear is much more expensive- basketball requires no gear other than ball and hoop (which are often in city parks-
so is it a class thing? a money thing?
because hockey is harder to understand?

IMHO the sports can be summed up by watching the last two minutes of pro game in each sport:
in hockey we have atheletes working probably harder than any atheletes in any sport in the world- non-stop;
in basketball the game comes to a screeching halt and turns into a boring nonsensical tactical game progressing 2 seconds at a time where penalties are anticipated and used at will;
in hockey, penalties stem from interactions that can have very serious if not fatal results

I mean come on people- why isn't hockey more popular? why is basketball so popular?

not to dis bball- it is a very tough game- but worthy of TV broadcast inundation and utter dominance?

but at least bball isn't soccer- a game where they can't even use a clock right and penalties result in acting worse than a Mexican soap opera
cmon- you're running and get tripped and land on grass and the player breaks into a pantomime of a scene from Barber of Seville
a hockey player gets a puck shot into their face at 90 mph, gets up, face gushing with blood, gets in a fist fight, and gets pulled away from the conflict wanting more and horking his now dislodged tooth at his opponent's face, trying to claw away from the ref for more action while being pulled from the ice

does anyone else see some disproportionality here?

(ya ya I disconnected everything but my basic cable to save some dough)
