playing the stock market game in schoo? need tips?

at school we are playing the stock market game and I am completely confused, i decided to 'buy' stocks i guess with dell and i went from number 15 out of 30 in the class to number 37! i dont know any good stragies? what are some good companies to invest in? any extra tips?
