Play TV to home cinema with surround.?

I have a samsung HDTV and a lg HT805SH surround sound system. My TV has optical out, composite and component out. The surround reciever has also the same but in, as well as a HDMI connection. If i connect the tv via optical to the HT, and play a movie from the tv (using the Tv's inbuilt usb reader) will it play the sound on all 5 speakers? In other words I want all sounds that come out of the TV to play on all 5 speakers. it doesn't have to be TRUE surround, just play on all speakers.
