Play.com - LXG - League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

I think the LXG dvd via Play.com comes from Canada who seem to get the DVRAB out sooner that the States. I got Pirates of the Carribean through the door yesterday even though it isn't out in the States until today. In some cases they arrive up to 2 weeks before US release dates.

Usually play do tell you that you could be stung with import tax if you order some R1 discs, but they are usually the ones that won't go through the letterbox easily. My experience so far is that The Indiana Jones box set I got had import tax on it (about

Tone are you sure ?

All my Regiion 1 DVD thus far from Play.com (Playusa.com) have come in from Belgium.

I have had several box sets and numerous DVD and never had to pay import duty

Ive been hit by import duty from Play when ordering boxsets. This is why as a rule of thumb I only use Play for r1 discs that are under

Yes I'm sure that boxsets are the main cause of import tax, LXG actually popped through my door yesterday (12 days before it should?)no tax, Firefly box set was at the post office Tuesday -

The whole import duty thing confuses me. I order the Buffy/Angel boxes from www.dvdcrave.com in Australia (dual R2/R4 encoded) and have not yet once had to pay import duty. Only one package has ever been opened by Customs and that was immediatelym sealed up again with "No Duty" stamped on it!

As soon as I get confirmation the Smallville box sets are released in Oz I will be ordering those too!
[EDIT: Just checked - it was released in Oz last week!]
[Second EDIT: Jesus! It's 40 quid. I could have bought it for $35 in the USA when I was there in November!)

I'm with father. As the saying goes, you can't polish a turd and well buffed though this particular piece of excrement may be, the screenplay makes it virtually unwatchable.

From Hell wasn't a great film but it was much better than LXG. I sincerely hope they don't try to make Watchmen.

LXG's problem is it rushes too quick from one piece to the next, without little explanation.

As usual a bit of creative licence used agianst the comic books it originated from.

LXG is one of those movies where you can just turn off the world outside and just enjoy what unfolRAB before you. Sure it's not a classic by far but I found it an enjoyable romp that is just fun from start to finish. I understand that the UK disc will be a double with a couple of extra deleted scenes and a european premiere mini documentary when it's out in February.

There are 12 deleted scenes when it come out, and imho very few would have benefitted the movie in it's current cut.

I enjoyed the movie, and love the set and lavishness of them.

However I felt that the section in venice could have been draw out slightly longer, and where the leagues characters have depth given to them, the villians aren't really given any background, so you dont have that to identify with.

Whether there will be and LXG 2 remains to be seen, personally I hope so
