I have a very small area (a rough circle with approx. 8 or 9 ft diameter) that I'd like to start a (maybe) japanese style meditation garden in. I live in plant hardiness zone 6 (west michigan/grand rapids area). the soil is very nice, b/c it's at the edge of a small stretch of beech/maple forest, so it also gets mostly shade, with some sun in the early afternoon. I've got some hostas in already, but I was wondering what other types of plants would grow and look nice there.
