Planning to buy E61

Hi im very close to buying a nokia e61, but i have a few ???s. I have cingular wireless, in CALI. How easy is it to set this phone up, wifi, voip etc. I travel to Ghana West Africa every summer so im interested in the voip feature on this phone. Is it really any cheaper than using a calling card? Also im assuming that if there is no wifi coverage in the area of ghana that im in, voip is useless.

Also can some of you share with me your voip providers, the voip thing seems complicated!!!, but im so excited about this phone. Thanks a lot. Van

All it took for me to get my e61 up and running on Cingular was putting in my SIM card and changing the internet settings (ISP -> WAP due to being on a MediaMax200 plan). Wifi hasn't been a problem even though I don't use it often. The Wifi Wizard app from Nokia (originally for the N80 or N80IE) helps make it even easier IMO.
I LOVE my e61 but honestly, if you can, wait and get the e61i. Unless you're in or around companies that don't allow camera phones. The D-pad on it looks better than the e61's joystick and, of course, it has a cam.

Sorry, but I've never used the VoIP.

You could wait for the E61i but if it's like the E61 it would be provider locked and wont be able to be unlocked unless you get the code from the provider.

There are several advantages to get an E61
- price drop due to the release of a newer model
- stable FW (3rd release)
- lots of info on it on this forum

Remember if you go with the newest and latest model - you're on your own to figure out everything, IMHO

TruPhone is a great VOIP provider. Easy setup and they are very responsive when you email them for help. Where are you in Cali? Where are you going to buy from?
