Planet OF Apes Movies and TV show

Yeah, Escape is my favourite of the sequels (the original being the best film in the franchise for obvious reasons), simply because what starts off as some jovial story, turns out quite dark and tragic, it also has one of the best gags in the franchise (sure not a scene to loathe ;) ). Sure, it has its plot holes, but I'm willing to partly forgive them because the story is compelling.

Another thing is that people say that the story is circular, but there are solid arguments that it really isn't. The link below gives a good explanation as to why it might not be considered as such.

Circular vs Linear Timelines

Yeah, although I'm not looking forward to the CGI apes, even though I do understand the need to use CGI due to the proportion of the apes being more ape-like at the beginning of their rebellion. The fact that the original franchise and the Burton film used actors in costumes was mitigated by the idea that the apes had evolved on from what they look now to a more human-like look.

As for using CGI in the Burton film, I'm really glad that they didn't (well, they did in two scenes to extend the mouth roar of Attar and also that of Ari when she pushes over Daena in reaction to being slapped), because it allowed real actors to shine out and give depth and substance to the characters that I feel CGI doesn't allow for (at least not in its current state). One thing I loved about the Burton film was the make-up, simply because it made the creatures seem like real beings (despite some irregularities, they at least looked like beings of some sort).

So, yeah, I like the Planet of the Apes films, even the Burton one (despite its flaws). I'm not a fan of the TV series and have to admit that the cartoon is a distant memory that I have difficulty recalling (I did watch them in the seventies). Maybe I'll have to seek out the cartoons and give them another watch.

The review slates the UK set for not including the book or the alternate version of Battle.
Easily remedied.
Buy the US boxset like I did .
It was the release that made me get a multiregion player
The films themselves look fantastic
