I'm a 22-year old with a new BA and I'm looking at the military for a commission. However, I have adult-onset polycystic kidney disease. It, according to my doctor, won't begin to affect me until I'm in my 40s or 50s. I've talked to a Marine recruiter about it already and he said it depends on what a urologist says, but other branches have said that it's an absolute no go.
Is there anyone out there with info about whether or not PKD is a deal breaker for the military? It is on the list of medical disqualifications but I know I'd be at least able to apply for a waiver.
