Pixar's UP

Didn't get that in our showing. Got A Christmas Carol and I can't remember what else.

Didn't get a Toy Story 3 trailer even in the Toy Story 3D showing. In that, we got an extended preview of A Christmas Carol.

Saw it at a preview screening this morning, just as brilliant as you'd expect from Pixar. I wouldn't quite place it on the same level as Wall-E but it is very very good, and some of the emotional themes of the film are really quite deep and touching.

I find 3D distracting , I just find myself constantly peering over the glasses to see the difference .

also I think the picture is sharper in 2D .

I got to see this in the states a couple of months ago and highly enjoyed it.

There were parts where I thought "OH JESUS WHY IS LIFE THIS UNFAIR, NO DON'T SAY SHE'S DEAD OR GOD WHYYYYYYYYY?"

and other bits, mostly where Doug spoke I was "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! TOO DAMN ADORABLE CAN'T...CONTAIN...IT."

I didn't cry, as I am a man but holy hell that film takes you to both extremes of emotion.

I saw "UP" last week (a birthday treat for my son). I must admit I had very little expectations of this film. Based on the trailer I had previously seen I honestly thought it would be rubbish but my son was keen to see it so I did the motherly thing. I was so surprised. It's nothing short of excellent. It deals with adult issues so warm and caringly. I was moved to tears and I never expected to be. A very good animated film enjoyable on all levels.

Saw this last night and came out a little disappointed.

Me: 30 year old (childless) woman in a relationship.

I cried and giggled and cried all the way through Wall-E but the so-called "touching" opening 15 minutes of Up bored me to death.

To be perfectly honest I think I've seen a different film to most of you! For me Up is the most kiddie Pixar film since Cars. Apart from the boring start it's all about slapstick, silly voices and comedy for the children; the characters are under-developed and I just couldn't relate or care about any of them.

Basically Up is an above average (if somewhat formulaic) comedy for children that adults will enjoy, but it falls far short of provoking the emotional response of Wall-E.

saw it today and it was very good, although I felt that the first ten minutes or so were the best.

(Like Wall-E ), it almost felt like two different films stuck together... kind of the way bridges are built - two crews start from either side of the river and meet in the middle...although in both these films its like they missed each others section, and the bridge doesnt quite meet up, doesnt really match.

The beginning of both Wall-E and Up are exquisite...and then, its like they think - hey, we need a car chase ( or something) , and lots of 'em! And somehow they end up with a different film than the one they started with, although I do think Up managed to remember some of its initial thoughtfulness .

And was anyone else reminded of the Wizard of Oz....?

Overall, I did enjoy it, and it was certainly many, many times better than other animations Ive taken the kiRAB to see ( Magic Roundabout truly being the worst)

Interesting. I think Up is probably Pixar's most adult film to date.

I don't know how you can say the characters are under-developed though. Carl is probably the most developed character we've ever seen in a Pixar film.

You must have a heart of stone to find that opening montage boring!! ;)

For me, the most blatantly 'kiddie' Pixar film is Finding Nemo. It ranks very low on my list, but most people love it. I'm not saying it's a bad film by any means - certainly not - but amongst the tough competition of the rest of the Pixar efforts, I think it under-performs.

I've seen it (in the states) and it's good but not great.

It has more of an 'standard action movie' feel to it than any other Pixar flick but still enjoyable. Better than 90% of most films out there.

Saw film with NO idea about it, except I knew his house went up in the sky with the balloons. (Iactually thought it was the kiRAB fault this happened from brief clip I had seen before). The first 15 mins of film were fantastic, I was actually rather shocked at how harsh it was and cried etc too. the film lost it a bit for me in the middle, but still amusing, the ending was brilliant though. Very very good movie overall..9/10:cool:

I took my mum to see this today (i'm 24 and she's 50). I had been looking forward to seeing this film all year, and we both thought it was amazing. She was crying within the first 10 minutes! Not quite as good as Wall-E imo, but I still rate it as one of the best Pixar movies.

For the eagle eyed of you, you will see that in the Toy Story 3 trailer, Andy has a letter from Ellie and Carl Fredrickson on his notice board.

I saw this yesterday, it is such an freaking excellent film, loved it!!!....I havent seen it in 3D, nevertheless great movie with a great message!....The montage of Carl and Ellie was cute as heck and beautiful, pulled at my heartstrings....It absolutely deserved the two oscars it was given!....Definately will be on birthday wishlist lol (I'm a sucker for a good animated movie, what can I do can't help it! loll :D)
