Pixar's UP

Just got back from a packed showing.

Amazing. Just superb. Yes, it's silly and far-fetched and hilarious, but it's also gut-wrenchingly sad in places. I mean really heartbreaking.

Loved it and the 3D is to die for :D:D

The 3D effects are mainly used for depth rather than the usual stuff flying out of the screen (although you get a bit of that too). When your high up in the sky the depth is stunning and as someone who has jumped out of plane (parachute jump) the view felt almost too realistic

Agree with the slow to get started for the kiRAB (mines 5) but as an end to end story IMO it beats Wall-E hanRAB down.

I saw this in 3d in the week and really enjoyed it (although we missed the starting few minutes due to the longest queue, must remember not to see films like this during half term!)

Really good seeing it in 3d though :]

I just got back from my second viewing. Much, much, much better without any children in there. And...I cried I again...alot. I don't know what's happening to me - I never cry at anything yet Pixar have managed to provoke this inner person with feelings from within. Nooo!!!

My 25 year old daughter saw this and came home sobbing her heart out! Everytime she tried to tell me about it she burst into tears again! She said that normally when they come out of the cinema everyone is upbeat and chatting about how good the film was etc but after watching UP, everyone came out all depressed and not talking and with shoulders hunched with no-one wanting to look at each other. I can't decide whether to watch it or not. I'm too soppy sentimental and would probably cheese everyone around me off with my sniffling :o

Watch it, it's a lovely film - I'm sure you won't be the only one in the audience to be that way affected. Or just watch it on DVD when it comes out...

I've never cried in a cinema before so I'm quite glad I didn't go see it with any frienRAB!
I'm going to see it again (in 3D), so hopefully I can maintain a stiff upper lip this time :)

Thinking about it afterwarRAB though, I wondered why Ellie and Carl couldn't have just
adopted?

Saw this the other day and loved it. Found it surprisingly adult too, especially the opening 10 minutes or so, most of which goes completely over childrens heaRAB.

The bit where Ellie finRAB out she cant have children was heartbreaking, as was the sight of Carl sat lonely at her funeral

The menacing dog with the faulty voice collar had me in stitches though!

I think i just about prefer 'Wall.E', but this comes very close.

Pixar and Disney seem to be putting their lazy hats on for the last few years. UP is pretty much Japanese film making with a bigger budget. Compare Howls moving castle. Plus Ratatouie is a blatant rip off of Amelie.

Come on pixar............come up with some originality.

I agree, but I wouldn't say its a "kiRAB" movie, its more of a family film.

I don't think they will. Not sure, but it might be different tech.

I agree, its the "oldest" of all the Pixar films. And that montage was heart wrenching.

We do differ on Alpha though. I found the squeeky voice annoying, but hey that's just me.

It was the same when I went to a half 9 showing, I didnt even realise until I was on the way home!

I loved this film, it was sad and funny at the same time.
