I have a few pits in my cheek from acne scarring...When I put makeup on it covers the redness but there are still the pits. Is there anything I can do to cover this up and treat it?

hi - i am a licensed master esthetician (skin care therapist). first, the best way to prevent acne pits is to not extract at the wrong time...i.e. before there is a pustule. a pustule is the correct time to extract. insert a sterile needle in the pustule, wrap fingers w tissue, push down and up until there is clear blood. if you extract before - your skin will produce too much collagen in a desperate attemt to heal itself, therefore producing a "pit." if your scarring is severe i suggest treatment with a surgeon such as deep chemical peel, laser, or dermabrasion. if you have redness try maderma (over the counter). also, learn proper skincare to prevent future problems. good luck.

I had those pits but they were on my forehead and above my upper lip. I had very good luck with Silkia camellia oil and Epidermx microdermabrasion cream to treat them. They looked amazingly better after a year of treatment and I can hardly see the pits on my forehead now. Those on my upper lips are more stubborn to treat but still a whole lot better than before. I only need to put a little concealer to cover it. Before they couldn't cover up well no matter how much and how great a concealer I used.

I'd recommend you look into these products. In the meantime you can use a concealer to cover up a bit first. Put the concealer before makeup/foundation. I love Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage concealer.

waterlily-thanks so much for that info! I'm definitely going to look into those products...How often did you apply the camelia oil & epidermix (I think that's what you said it was)?

I applied the oil every morning and night. I initally used Epidermx 2 or 3 times a week but later changed to once a day when the company came up with a new version of the cream.
