I never saw Pitch Black so before even contemplating buying this and the new Van diesel film,Chronacles of Riddick, could someone please tell me wether to bother or not.

Good,bad or indifferent ?

quite simply GOOD!

Pitch Black was a great film..somewhat of a sleeper due to no real huge promotion, but it has a large cult following and was one of the best sci-fi films of the year it was released.
TCOR was ok, many watched it for the simple reason it was a vehicle for Riddick. it could have been so much better ( my personal opinion anyway)

the UnCut version of Riddick is alot better than the Cinema version, you will have to import it tho.

If you like Riddick you will love Pitch Black :)

ive seen the directors cut, but alas, i couldnt bring myself to like it as much as the 1st Riddick venture.
Dont get me wrong, i liked it, but not as much as PB

I love both PB & TCOR (probably because I love Vin Diesel :D) but I thought PB was a much better film with a better storylline & better actors. I liked the surprise ending of COR & really hope they do make the next film to it. :)

PB is a great film and a cult classic and I really enjoyed TCOR. I think I will have to buy the region 1 dvd of TCOR to see the uncut version. I dont know if they are going to do another film as I think it depended on the sales of TCOR dvd!

I havent seen Pitch Black but I rented COR saturday night and it was a surprisingly good film. I was expecting a cheesy sci-fi flick but the story and acting was above average, good CGI too.

Vin Diesel was born to play these kind of roles, he made a solid character out of Riddick.

As you may have guessed, the general feeling is that Pitch Black is a great film.

I personally enjoyed TCOR and I think you need to bare in mind that it seems to be a vehicle for tieing up lose PB enRAB as well as setting up Riddick for the next film in the (expected) trilogy.

I got the Uncut R1 version from CD Wow on Saturday and it is the version to watch. It just makes a good film better by having the extra footage and story elements that the standard Cinema/Disney version does not. It also has a commentary and deleted scenese which the R2 doesn't.

Pitch Black is a great movie
Chronicles of Riddick is a good movie.

I hope they go ahead and make Chronicles of Riddick 2 and 3 as there is plenty of life in the Riddick character.

My sister bought me Pitch Black for xmas, and I was just like 'gee, thankks' *less than enthusiatically*

It is ok i suppose, but not my kind and I dont like Vin Dieself or his character.

Maybe I'll auction it off at ebay. :)

Can anyone tell me the difference btwn the R1 directors cut and the R2 disney versions of TCOR? I've only seen a *ahem* copied R1 version and I'm curious as to what they've cut.

Plus, I REALLY want to replace my copy with a legit version so that I have the commentary etc, but if they are going to put out a crap R2 version then I won't bother (note to all film distributors - if you want to cut down on piracy, put the SAME cut of each film out on ALL regions, don't play favourites with the Americans).

In the Region 2 they cut out the bit with Kyra getting put in that cage on Crematoria. They cut out the bit where that woman comes to Riddick as he is in hyper-sleep or whatever and tells him about Furia and Furions. They cut out the stuff where on the Necormonger ship when Riddick is getting mind probed and all the furion stuff is revealed, instead of Lord Marshall saying 'Kill Him' he says 'Kill the Riddick'.

When they escape from Crematoria when Riddick and Co fight the Necromongers in the R1 Riddicks uses Furion energy to wipe out the Necros then collapses. In the R2 he gets shot by Lord Marhsalls pal who believes him to be dead, but Riddick only got half the blast as he used a Necro as a human shield. This makes more sense actually when he tells Lord Marshall Riddick is dead and can't believe it when the woman says she saw him on the ship. In the R1 you can't undertsand why he says Riddick is dead, when Riddick kicked his ass.

Also at the end there is a different narration. Instead of that Necro saying 'You Keep What You Kill' I think Aureon or Riddick have quite a speech instead in the R2 version.

Don't buy an R2 copy, get on CD Wow and get the Proper R1 with Deleted Scenes and Commentary its cheaper then the R2 DVD with Free Postage so there is no excuse not to have it.

Vin Diesel has been saying that he's currently working out a storyline for the sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick - the third in the "Pitch Black" series - based on the plans that were left when he first signed on for The Chronicles of Riddick.
Diesel said: "Riddick? Well, you know that I've always had 'C2' planned," he says. "I'm silently — and I shouldn't even say this — I'm silently working on 'C2' with some of the outlines that were created when I first thought of doing the three films."
So it looks like we may get to see a sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick after all!

I thought we wouldnt get to see a sequel after how bad The Chronicles of Riddick did in the cinema and on DVD. I really enjoyed it when I saw it in the cinema and I enjoyed it even more after watching the Region 1 Uncut DVD. So bring on TCOR2!
