Pirates of the carribbean at world's end.

The soundtrack is beautiful. I know the piece you are referring to. It is really stirring. I'm listening to it right now ;)

I don't care what anyone else says. I love all three films. The first is deifnately the best structured and the other two have more problems, but I tihnk they're all great entertainment. Nothing too complcated, in my eyes. Just a bit of good, old fashioned fun.

Reviews have been awfully negative, as I suspected and actually hoped. I hate when reviews pander. Pirates was typically braindead Bruckheimer rubbish, but Johnny Depp made it watchable. Pirates 2 was manic, childish(moreso) and convoluted. I never had any doubt that 3 would be even worse.

It's revelatory to me that I can barely remember anything from Pirates 2. It just seemed to be a mindless and relentless parade of motion. Not action - motion.

That's worrying. I mean, these are hardly complex films. It's a very bad sign that so many people find them convoluted and confusing.

People buying into films they're not impressed with is the reason unimpressive films get made. That and soulless Hollywood executives, obviously.

No, he was free in the extra scene because his true love was waiting for him. Davy Jones was still cursed because Tia Dalma didn't wait for him. That's what made him go all tentacley :p

oh okay haha well it works both ways :p I thought the reason Davey Jones was tantacley was because he didn't help the souls across to the other side during the ten years he had to be at sea as that was the job calypso gave to him?

It was a long drawn out mess.
I can understand films with complex plots but the difference is they're usually well made and interesting, unlike this.
Don't want to get in any arguements with any previous posters but this isn't a patch on Spiderman 3.
But we've all got different opinions and that's what makes forums great :)

Totally agree with you!

I watched it with me sisters 2 kiRAB:

The 9 year old fell asleep after the first 40 / 50 mins (lucky wee git) and the 12 year old was constantly askin me if we could go home cos he was bored stiff and found it hard to keep up with all the doublecrossing etc etc...

Shame on Disney!

It's a complete mess of a movie. It's overlong, it's needlessly confusing, it's overblown, it's got too many characters double crossing other characters, it doesn't making as much use of the lead character as it should, and it's not as good as the previous films.

So it's a little strange that I really liked it!

The first half of the movie seemed LONG. Well, it was, but it seemed a lot longer than the second half, mainly cos I kept getting lost. Until the last hour or so, which I understood totally, there just seemed to be too much cutting away, too many double crosses, and it all seemed too confusing.

The whole Davy Jones Locker thing bored me, what the hell was with all the multiple Jacks and everything...it was just a bit rubbish. Things got a lot better when they worked out about the up is down thing, and got back to the "real world".

There didn't seem to be as many noRAB to the previous films as I had thought there might, although they crammed a few into the last few minutes which I really liked. No "you will always remember this as the day..." though, which was a shame.

Keira's acting ranged from very good, to adequate. She never looked less than perfect though. She was in a lot more than I thought she would be.

Jack Sparrow wasn't quite the force he was in the previous two, which was mainly because he wasn't in it as much, and because some of the time he was in it was wasted with the multiple Jacks which I hated.

The "marriage" scene could have been awful, but it was spectacularly choreographed and scored, so worked very well I thought, some good acting as well. One of the best scenes.

The last 10 minutes were great, it had a lot of the fun of the first film which was missing from a lot of the two sequels, and sets things up well for another - Jack on a quest, but no Will or Elizabeth (much as I love Keira, I think a fourth would be better off without her, or at least without Will). Perfect last line as well, it had to belong to Jack.

So, despite a lot of negative points, I still liked it enough to warrant it a decent rating. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me.

Movie 7 Rating : 7/10

Funny, the showing I went to was majority children and (apart from one very young, about 6ish, child who was really too young to be there) they all sat in rapt attention the entire film. In fact there was a spontaneous round of applause at the end, not exactly a common occurence for that type of movie.

I can see that there would be individual parts of the film that may be of the "love or hate" variety but I personally think it's a lot better than the second film and the plot/double cross contortions only make me want to see it again: I agree though that it's almost imperative to have seen the other 2 films (preferably more than once) in order to really get the best out of it.

Yes can someone please please post what the extra bit was after the credits with spoiler tag if needed!

Personally i thought it was really good, didn't find it confusing in any way at all, the effects were superb and if comparing to something such as spiderman 3 i'd say it's miles better than that.

Also by far the funniest of the 3 films.

I really don't see what you could find confusing about it at all tbh. I think if people stopped holding it up against the first film which will probs always be the best to the majority because of the originality of it then they would see it for the fun few hours of entertainment that it is.

I actually came out of the cinema wanting to see it again which doesn't happen alot.

I can totally see what people are saying and I agree with some of the criticisms - some of the plot could do with being streamlined and I think it works better if you follow straight on from watching Dead Man's Chest rather than watching this in its own right. It very much feels like jumping straight into the second half of the story and as a stand alone film would be poorly structured.

Having said that though, I like the complexity, the story and the characters. It was very un-Disney in a lot of ways. A great adventure film.

And special mention (since no one has so far!) to Geoffrey Rush for being utterly brilliant as Barbossa. He really did relish that part, you can tell.

I'm confused with how so many people seem to find it confusing did you even watch the 2nd film? As for too long for me the time flew what is it can you not hold your bladders that long or desperately need a ciggie? Really you can't go see Pirates 3 thinking it's gonna be some epic film it's just lighthearted entertainment. It's an action/adventure film and thats what it gave. I don't give a rat's whether Keira or Johnny or whoever isn't producing some Oscar worthing acting performance i care about being entertained for a few hours of my life and i was.
