Pirates of the carribbean at world's end.

It was confusing because the majority of the time characters motivations were unclear, with repeat viewings I'm sure I'll be able to work it out, I just wasn't expecting to have to work so hard to understand the characters.

There were many element of the film I did enjoy, I'm a fan of the franchise. But I'm disappointed that a film with so much talent behind it was allowed to become so bloated and messy, there were probably a lot of storylines and characters that could have been cut without harming this film and saved for a future POTC film (because there will be).

And Scrumdiddly, I'm sorry if I didn't explain myself properly, I was unimpressed with the handling of the characters and plot, I think they could have done so much better than they did, the standard was set very high by the first two films imho and they did not meet their own standard in this one, but compared to a lot of other film, it was still quite good.

I was impressed by other aspects of the film though, the SFX, the jokes, the cinematograhpy were things that impressed me, and are worth buying the film for, as well as the fact that I'm a big fan of the franchise and am willing to watch it two or three more times so I can process the whole thing. I am happy to do that, but thats not what I was expecting to have to do. And I'm a fussy film student anyway!

No it's definitely right, someone just explained that there's a link on IMDB to the official writers site and they explain the curse was broken.

I'm sure on the DVD commentary they said they only planned to make one. Then when that was a success they decided to make the next two?

I actually hope the curse is still on Will. The reason being that I didn't really feel that AWE really wrapped anything up (aside from the storylines satrted in DMC) and if they're gonna do a Pirates 4, then I want them to do something that will involve breaking the curse on Will so he and Elizabeth can get a proper ending.

I REALLY hate the idea that they would end their story on a sad note at the end of the film AND THEN fix it by adding a scene at the end of the credits where the curse (which he just got) is lifted in a 10 second shot.

in answer to the will bit:

its not his one day on land, if his true love is waiting for him when the 10 years are up, the curse is lifted and he is free to live his life again.

Thats why Tia And Davy Jones are the way they are. Tia didnt wait for Davy Jones.

The end of the credits scene:

Cut to 10 years later, a young boy is standing on a cliff on an island singing the Pirates song - it may have been the same young actor as we saw getting hanged at the start of the film. Elizabeth appears as they watch the sunset together. Then Will sails in on The Flying Dutchman to be reunited with Elizabeth.

Can anyone tell me what did happen in the 10 years later scene? I didn't stay that long!

I really felt that if it was made more of a comedy it would have been a lot more watchable! I have a poor memory when it comes to films but i'm sure the first one was really funny.

Also, why couldn't Elizabeth stay on the Flying Dutchman but his Dad could, even though he'd been freed? Probably a simple answer to that but I just couldn't work it out.

i saw it today as well. i really like it i think is a lot better then the 2nd movie and i loved keith richarRAB in the movie he was class. what happen after the credits i didn't stay. but i am going to see in againe tomarrow

I imagine if they did make a fourth it would be at least 5 years from now so it wouldn't really make any difference. In The Mummy Returns it was supposed to be 10 years after The Mummy even though it was only made a couple of years later.

Anyway, I think the writers and Gore Verbinski ALMOST pulled it off but didn't because they let the sheer size of the two movies (shot back-to-back) overwhelm them. The story wasn't too complicated to understand but it became OVERSTUFFED with too many story elements that couldn't be satisfyingly resolved. It shows that it was wrong for them to leave everything up in the air at the end of Dead Man's Chest.

I think they should have made three 2-hour films instead of two 2hr45min ones (this isn't counting Curse Of The Black Pearl of course). This way they could have developed Lord Beckett and the East India Company a lot better instead of them just appearing as token villains, and they could have paid off Davey Jones' and Tia Dalma's story a lot more effectively.

If anything should have been cut down in At World's End it's the Locker scenes. After the excellent start with Sao Feng at Singapore and the Beckett stuff we get a seriously overlong mental sequence with mental Jack. It was interesting and funny for about a minute, then they should have moved the story on quickly. They didn't need all the betrayals either. Will's motive of rescuing his father didn't seem that effective because Bootstrap Bill was only in a couple of scenes AND he had also lost it. Bill should have been the one that killed Jones in the end, and he should have been more central.

I hated it. The storyline was confusing, it had totally pointless parts and the characters annoyed the hell outta me.

I really enjoyed 1 and 2.

They should have left Will dead and then killed off Elizabeth aswell. They are both really annoying dull characters.

Barbossa was the best. :D

After the cluttered, directionless, disappointing mess that was Spider-man 3 (I used to loved that franchise*sniff*), this was a breath of fresh air. It was still too long (a Disney action movie does not need clock in a three hours), but the plot - convoluted as it was - made sense, and the characters actually had meaningful arcs. I feared something as wobbly as Pirates 2, but the plot, action and humour worked so much better than the middle chapter - this was a cracking little (*cough*) movie.

I do hope they leave it at Pirates 3 - a tidy trilogy with a minor sag in the middle. It works well, and will stand the test of time.

Oh, an the Transformers trailer made me goosebumpy - I've been waiting for that movie sine I was 10 (22 years ago). I've a feeling Michael Bay may actually have got this right.

Whilst I probably agree she was Oscar nominated last year :o

The reviews have been average, mostly saying 3 out of 5, and appear to echo what I already think.

I tried to concentrate, but I didn't even know where they were for the last half of the movie- Singapore or the Caribbean!?
