Pirates Of The Caribbean 4

Loved the first one. Second one was enjoyable enough. Third was complete cack and even Jack Sparrow himself was unlikeable in it.

Really can't get excited about a 4th film, much as I love Depp. The sheer awfulness of the third one kind of killed my passion for the future of the POTC universe.

I was made to watch #1 on a Xmas Day some years ago.
I was irate with such time wasted.
But now I'm thankful that that lesson saved me many future hours.
Happy Xmas once again.

Good news that Depp is talking about the next film being simpler and easier to understand.

The last two movies in particular have just cracked under their own weight. Too many superfluous characters, too many subplots that went nowhere, too many twists and turns and double-crossing. The final battle was great. the two and a half hours it took to get there wasn't.

Hopefully without the dullard lovebirRAB dragging the plot down, the fourth can be what its meant to be - a riproaring adventure putting the best characters (Sparrow and Barbossa) front and centre.

Completely agree with all of that.

They really lost the plot with the 3rd one and even though the casting looks promising, it's hard to get exicted about the new film knowing that the same writers are penning the script.

I hope Russell Brand isn't in it, I feel that'd be too gimmicky. I didn't even like Keith's appearance :/

I love this franchise, the latter two films weren't... perfect, to say the least. But I will always watch these films, because the performances from Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are golden - I could watch them bantering for hours. And now they've cut out the dead weight of the predictable earnest young love story of Elizabeth and Will, maybe it can start afresh in new, simpler territory. If they stopped trying to go overboard (no pun intended!) topping the previous movie's CGI budget, and cut down on the epic far-too-long fight scenes, maybe it would improve.

I didn't mind Keira Knightley, but, let's face it, Orlando Bloom cannot act!

I don't think Penelope Cruz has been confirmed yet - and I'm... not sure about her, for some reason, whenever she's in an English speaking role she seems to become incredibly boring.

After the final scene of 'At WorlRAB End' (after the credits), I'd be dissapointed if Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley were in the next film.

Jack neeRAB to move on.

I think they must be talking about who's the currently highest paid actor in the film business. I've read in the past where film stars have commanded fees as high as $50m. Maybe they're talking about pounRAB, perhaps? I quite like the Pirates Of The Caribbean series, but couldn't watch them over and over, though.

Loved the first film, absolutely hated the second two, great examples of bad writing in so many ways, it felt like pure milking the franchise for the money.

The strongest thing about the first film was Depp and Rush and the support cast. Will and Elizabeth always felt like the secondary theme in the movie, if they do make a fourth Im really glad they arent going to be in it, sorry Knightly and Bloom fans!

Im really glad to see Gibbs back, along with the other pirates from the first film and Jack Davenports character he was great fun to watch.

I enjoyed all three films, although I was perhaps ignorant to the fact that the second and third films contained some bad writing. Glad Keira "Over-rated" Knightley and Orlando Bloom are gone.

If this film focuses more on Jack Sparrow then that can only be a good thing. At least I know when to arrange my next trip to the local cinema... let's face it, there's little worth seeing at the moment unless you're sad enough to watch the Twilight films.

I don't understand all the hate for the second and third movie- despite some lag time here and there, I always felt that every scene was heading somewhere, and the Trilogy together counts as one of my favourites. Still, tis just my opinion :D:D:D:D

Apparantly they are all aware of the issues with the 2nd and 3rd films and will be stripping it back, which is fantastic. Really looking forward to this. Great cast and great director. Fingers crossed it'll be amazing.

The first was brilliant, while the second and third were bleh. I don't have high hopes for number 4, but if they can make it to the quality of the 1st or even better, then it's plain sailing from there :D
