pipes

TBO its all depends on your wallet.

Vance & Hines sounds looks awesome. Hard Krome the quality is fantastic you pay a bit more though (I prefer the bafles in the V&H though). Check with our guy at Extreme Suzuki they have always treated us good.

I would advise you to really do your research on this for a couple of reasons. First--the new emission laws are coming on fast and hard and even though a lot of people out there don't think the 25 year old laws won't be enforced, you have to wonder when someone with the market presence of Harley Davidson starts to revamp their own stuff. Screamin' Eagles aren't even what they used to be, and there are already pipes with electronic baffles on the way. All I'm saying is keep in mind that you may need to go backwards in the future, so really think it through. Also remember that to get the most out of those sweet sounding tubes you gotta pair them up with a decent airflow to feed them. KNN makes a great product and a few months ago they finally released one for the C90. Last and probably the most important is you have to map the pipes and the new air cleaner to the engine/carb. You will need something like a PowerCommander for this, and to really do it right you should have the bike put on a dyno.

I run V&H Long Shot Classics on my 90 and they are really great. But to get the most out of them I did the above stuff after a lot of careful research and talking to guys not just into Suzuki's and Honda's but HD's as well. A lot of those guys have been around a long, long time and understand the dynamics of the Vtwin and pipes more than us young pups. You will find that Cobra makes some nice pipes as do Hooker, Python and Reinhart. Just remember some of them are still catching up to the C90 config's and are listed as VL1400, or LC1400--they work fine but the bolt studs may not work out of the box. I ended up at Tru-Value store where I found the perfect engine studs for a buck apiece and you'd never know it!

So ask some questions and take your time. It'll be worth it! Good luck.

About the blueing...my VH's have not yet blued. I would again attribute this to proper mapping and not going too lean. They come with nice chrome snap on guards which helps redirect heat and helps with the discoloration as well.
