Pink Floyd, Why?

exactly.

i never said liking them for their more popular stuff is bad...I just said thats not how I got introduced to them. I probably heard lots of their lesser known material before I heard their really "big hits"

Shine On You Crazy Diamond, my favorite Pink Floyd song ever, or should i say suite?... It has like 7 parts and its devided into 2 tracks, its over 20 minutes long when corabined.

Excuse me? I listen to Iron Maiden and Opeth. Opeth have a song that goes for 20 minutes, it's amazing.

I am happy for any good recommended songs.

Thank you everyone for the help, now I shall begin my downloading fest, and when I'm done I'll post back and tell you what I thought of them! I appreciate the help.

People always dimiss Pink Floyd as being a mellow band, but what some folks forget is that they can get loud and nasty when they have to...Examples.

Careful With That Axe Eugine
Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk
Intersteller Overdrive
Lucifer Sam
Saucerful Of Secrets
Corporal Clegg
The Nile Song
Ibiza Bar
One Of These Days
Sheep
In The Flesh
Young Lust

So are 5/4, 5/8, 7/4, 9/4, 9/8, 11/4, 11/8, 17/8 and 18/8.

7/4 and 7/8 are two of the most common time signatures in prog.

4/4 is great and all, but it always gets all the attention, so not fair for the other guys. :(

you cant appreciate anything unless its what you like can you. Gimour is a great guitarist, why would his solo in conf. nurab be ranked 3rd best rock guitar solo of all time if he sucks. He's a great soloer, shine on, CM, echoes, on the turning away, money, marrooned, the list goes on and on of great solos by gilmour. Him and Rick Wright are my favorite merabers of the floyd.

I wasnt alive back then. My parents never listened to them. My frienRAB growing up never listened to them. I learned about them of and by myself. I dont go by their "most popular" songs. I basically got told to listen to em by a friend so I went on limewire and downloaded every song I could by them. I happend to d/l a mistitled song. Im so f'ing sorry...
