Locally youre good (unless its scam but that you can never know).

But yeah Nigeria and all Scams !!!

Sorry guys I know this post is pretty old. But I have a question. I have a bold and its hooked up with a provider in Hong Kong. But I'm returning back to Canada and I was wonder if I would be able to use
it with Rogers bb plan with the same pin and imei even though I would still be registered with my Hong Kong provider?

Yes you can. The Bold needs to be unlocked, if its already unlocked, then go to www.rogers.com/bwc and register and account it will ask you to enter the imei number and pin which is located on the box or in option--> Status.. Let me know it works, otherwise post if you need anymore help. Good Luck...

Wow there are a lot of opinions on here just messing with my head. I won't touch this one. btw RanX has it right again as usual listen to him.

Hi.

I purchased a BlackBerry Curve 8310 from reputable seller on eBay. Called Rogers, informed them of IMEI and PIN and installed my SIM. All fine. I cannot register for a new account on Rogers BIS as IMEI and/or PIN are incorrect. It is not. Called Rogers tech support, same problem when they try and register me for BIS Internet and Email on their side. Problem escalated as they can't get it to work don't know much. The BlackBerry sends and receives phone calls ok. Internet also ok. Able to send PIN messages. I am, unfortunately, unable to receive PIN messages or use BlackBerry Messenger. Oh and the push email is out of the question cause I can't create an account.

I fear the IMEI and PIN are locked on the RIM server side. Why do they do this?? Sheesh.

Ebay seller has offered to give me a totally different, new BlackBerry. I fear this replacement will also be locked and will will be back to step 1, all over again. Can't IMEI and PINs just be added into the RIM relay somehow?

Help!?!

Thanks very much.

Also, I was offered this as a potential "fix" to my problem. I haven't tried it yet. Any validity in any of this?

1. Get a friend's sim card which is already on blackberry service
2. Remove your sim card
3. Place your friend's sim card in your phone.
4. Go to email settings
5. Wait for the browser to load
6. Log in using friend's user name and password
7. Select change device
8. Select send service books
9. Wait three minutes
10. Remove the sim card from your phone
11. Put back your friend's sim card back to his own phone.
12. Repeat steps 4 to 8 on your friend's phone to set back to original settings
13. Put in your sim card. I assume you have already activated blackberry service with your service provider.
14. Register as new by keying in user name and password.
