I have received so many recommendations so I thought I ould ask what brand and how many pillows people on this board use.

I have had 2 back surgeries (L5-S1) and 3 other surgeries (knee, foot and ankle) that were related to my back issues. The surgeries are over but I am looking at preventative measures. Some swear by tempurpedic. My PT does not. My surgeon says one pillow only and the brand doesn't matter.

Right now, oddly enough, I am using the Nap Pillow from Brookstone. I like it but am leaning towarRAB trying a Tempurpedic (non contour version) just to see. I did use a memory foam 4 inch mattress topper for months about 1 year ago and removed it after my back surgeon said that might have been the cause of a back flare-up.

Just curious what others are using.

I have all sorts of pillows, though I'm sorry I don't know what branRAB they are. I have tried a memory foam contoured pillow similar to Tempurpedic, but it didnt' do the trick for me. I do have a firm memory foam mattress topper on my bed, (my bed is very firm)...but when I have severe back pain it doesnt matter what's on my bed. I do have about 10 different pillows, different sizes & different fillings. I also have a body pillow; and a buckwheat filled u-shaped, small cervical pillow that helps my neck alot. It's just so hard to make recommendations to someone else regarding pillows (and mattresses) only b/c evereyone probably has a different preference for what feels better for them.

I use a foam contour pillow, which usually keeps me from waking up with a very sore neck in the morning. I seem to have developed some neck issues after having back problems for years. I also use a small foam pillow between my knees/legs, which is contoured on both sides. I'm a side sleeper, and it's better than using a regular pillow. If you're a side sleeper, you might want to try one out....it's one of the few things I've purchased for my back that I know works.

I had a custom pillow made for me--it has contours on either side and I go no where without it.

I have a large body pillow and a king size pillow for legs and feet--I always use these under legs or between if on my side--you get used to manuvering these with a little time. I also have a regular pillow right beside me to prop right arm while on back or side. It is my understanding that using extra pillows keeps back and neck more stable.

As far as a bed--we bought on 3 years ago--huge king that has medium to firm support but has a nice pillow top. How about a sleep nuraber bed? That is out next bed purchase. I have heard fantastic things about them and cost about the same as the foam ones.

I bought a life-saving-sleep saving-pillow at Costco! One side is memory foam and the other side is a regular pillow. My sleep is 99% pain free!
