I've decided to get my ears pierced (nothing too big, just a normal first piercing in my lobe), and have heard a bunch of horror stories about guns. My friend got hers done with a gun, and has been fine, but I hear needles heal quicker and are more painless. Any thoughts?

Also, ATTENTION UTAH RESIDENTS! I have read reviews on the Koi Piercing Studio in SLC, and am thinking of having it done there. Their site is not up, so any additional reviews you can offer would be great. I've heard that they're pretty pricey, though, so any info on how much you paid would be great, ESPECIALLY on ear piercings.

I have a question to ask of any professional piercers out there who use needle. I hear Koi's pricey-ness is partly due to their jewelry, so I've been thinking of buying the jewelry myself and having them put it in? Is this possible? Would it cut the price? Is it a bad idea? What type of jewelry should I look 4? Keep in mind I'm a poor college student; if it costs too much I can't do it.
