Pierce Brosnan Quits As James Bond, Eric Bana Set To Replace Him

Simple as that. Brosnan has told Entertainment Weekly's website that he's resigned and will not do Bond 21, out next November.

Aint It Cool is now reporting with confidence that Eric Bana (Troy, Hulk etc) will replace him. The 'young Bond' thing starring Orlando Bloom is total garbage too.

Any thoughts? I think Bana would be great.

I just saw on TV today that filming will commence this coming winter.... Can't remember the program, but it was one of the entertainment ones.

I bet the next one doesn't do as well as the previous ones, it was on a steady climb with Die Another Day being the highest grossing yet.

For the love of the franchise, please please let it be Clive Owen. Or Ioan Gruffudd (sp?) at a push.

Clive Owen was just born for the role. Which is no doubt a great reason for the producers to reject him. Like "Brosnan was the most profitable Bond". Producers: "Ah, damn. Well we'd better find a new one then!"

film companies stayin quiet bout pierce brosnan leavin role and jst sayin tht they were still "casting issues" to be resolved. a think pierce should do 1 more personally bt if not then it shuld be clive owen.

As long as it aint robbie williams - he always said he wanted to be james bond. But hes just a smug.....oh my god dont get started on him.

Hugh Jackman? Hmmm he is a good choice, Bana....Nah hes not swave enough.

They should try a relative unknown for the part not an 'established' star.

Like when they took on Sean Connery he was an unknown. Make Bond more of an unknown again. Back to grass roots villains and hench men with plenty of....Ahhh I ve been expecting you's and secret weapons with massive bittons that say turn of world distruction device here.

The villians recently have been too....IMHO....Naff. A Rupert Murdoch imitation, a Scots man with a bullet in his head and an Angry SOn with an Identity crisis.

Dear God No, Not Clive Owen!!! :D

I saw him in King Arthur and his acting was so wooden it spoilt the film. It reminded me of Timothy Dalton!!!

I would like to see Colin Farrell play Bond, maybe notthe best choice but interesting to watch.

Yes, he was being interviewed on Australian TV and said that he was sick of the James Bond rumours and there was no way he would take the part and had never even been considered for it. A total rumour.

Latest name being thrown in the ring is Julian McMahon (Charmed, Nip/Tuck, about to play Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four, and ex-hubby of Dannii Minogue.)

Apparently has been meeting with the Broccoli people. :)
