Pierce Brosnan Accepts 5th 007 Film

Variety's Army Archerd talked to Pierce Brosnan who revealed that he has accepted a fifth mission...

"The invitation has been accepted," a very polite Pierce Brosnan tells me of "the invitation" from producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson to do a fifth James Bond movie -- just as his contract expires with the completion of "Die Another Day." The untitled -- and as yet unscripted -- Bond pic probably will not start filming until early 2005.

Since his first three outings have grossed more that a billion-$, I asked Brosnan if the new negotiations would include a raise for him. "I would like to think that fair play will be involved," he smiled. "I have the highest expectation of fairness and good spirit." And, he added, "I have all of CAA behind me!" Beyond this fifth Bond film, Brosnan predicts, "I think it has mileage to go another 20 years." Not with him, he assures -- he survived the fourth Bond with "a bit of a knee injury. That was it"

Brosnan can also be seen at the end of the year in Oscar-hopeful Evelyn and he'll next turn to the costumer Lochinvar, based on Sir Walter Scott's classic. Brosnan would play the Templar MacGregor.

This is great news. The Brosnan/Bond story has been long documented, but news that he will continue is very welcome. He (in my view) is the best Bond since Connery, and whilst I do feel sorry for Timothy Dalton, there are a lot of Bond fans who wished that he could have taken over from Roger Moore.. If only his Remington Steele contract was one day shorter..

I am holding out to see this new film before i look forward to the next... I mean, from the trailers this film is looking increasingly cheesy. Hopefully its not all big buck special effects and sexual puns. I know thats a part of what every james bond is about, but hopefully they havent taken it so far its not actually interesting.

Not long now tho til its out :)
Lets hope they get a better singer for the next one as well :D

Yeah I heard Madonnas Die Another Day, and I really hope that is just a radio mix of the final film version.. It certainly doesnt sound as good as Garbage did on the last film.. that song in particular finished the cracking opening power boat scene (mind you I would have a soft spot for that bit.. I was watching them film that sequence during my lunch hour :) ) and then there was the whole Bond: Moneypenny, Im just brushing up on a little Danish", Moneypenny: Bond, I always thought you were a cunning linguist" bit. CLASSIC! :D

oops, got carried away there..

ps I like the Jag advert :D

This new film looks extremely cheesy.
From the trailer it seems to be overdown with action scenes and an insane amount of cliches and double entendres.
Brosnan is looking very wrinkly now and by the time the next film comes around in 3 yrs time he will be 52.
That is a bit too old for a Bond actor.

I gotta say that I love OHMSS and I think it is fashion for people to mock GL's appearance as 007. The film has all the Bond Magic in that the locations, cast, action, editing, music and story are just top notch. Lazenby turning down the offer to play Bond again was the biggest shame in the history of the franchise, with the exception of Never Say Never Again of course

Adn that support the point doesn't it. He looked ancient in his last film.

Incidentally, fantastic to see OHMSS get the credit it deserves in ITVs Best Bond Ever program last Friday

Isn't it about time we had a homosexual encounter for James Bond.

I'm not saying get rid of the whole idea of "Bond Girls" but maybe Bond has a curiosity which can be potrayed on screen. I'm not suggesting either that you change his character to compensate for any stereotypes that people would expect maybe just a spur of the moment kiss with another male character.

hmmm, bond is kinda dying out now i think alot of people just think bond and want to go and see it. i thought the last one was not too bad but i kinda prefered xXx for some strange reason

Your kindof contradicting yourself a bit, surely if a lot of people are going to see the film solely on the basis that it is bond, then the bond brand is still succesful.

I don't agree about a comment made previosuly in the thread that bond should explore his sexuality. Bond works because of the winning formula of girls, gadgets, sexual innuendos etc. Changing this to make bond more PC would totally ruin bond.

Having seen the new bond flick i was a bit disappointed that bond wasn't as 'sauve' as in previous bond films.

Oh my god. Ive been a big fan of the Bond films, but I have to say Die Another Day is the worst Ive seen. Its crap. Too much computer graphics, and far too fetched even for a Bond film. A massive, massive letdown. Very poor effort.

The next film HAS to be great otherwise the Bond films will go out of fashion like they did after License To Kill.

i agree that there was something bondish lacking from this one - although still enjoyed it.

did get thrown at the start tho' - this whole opening sequence being part of the main film, instead of the end of his last escapade....also - he didn't even get away in dramatic union jack parachute fashion.....don't these people know what neeRAB to be in abond movie? :D

qs pad in the london underground with all the old gadgets was good tho'.

The special effects were really bad in some parts. The villians were weak.

I thought this was the poorest of all the Brosnan Bond film so far.

personally i thought it was a really good bond movie. definitely better than tomorrow never dies. It was good to see that bond wasn't indestructable and seeing pierce with that massive beard was something!! :D
