Pictures of coffins of the dead American soldiers

If I hadn't seen this in print I wouldn't have thought you could be so illogical.

There are three possibilities here:

I'm for it. (Even though I may still have a problem with some facet of it.)
I'm against it. (Even though I may not have a problem with some facet of it.)
I don't have a problem with it. (Even though I still may not care if it happens.)

Not having a problem with something in no way implies that someone should be for it. For example, I really don't have a problem if two strangers quarrel with each other. That doesn't mean I should want them to quarrel.

There's nothing in addition to the quotation of the number killed and a respectful mention of their names that is required to get the message across.

Showing pictures of the caskets awaiting transport home is not the same as showing pictures of rows of white crosses at Arlington or Andersonville. Showing pictures of caskets is just as close as the media can get to showing pictures of open caskets or showing full view pictures of the battered bodies that are inside. That's what they really want to do. It's their way or displaying gore just as is the publishing of pictures of the results of partial birth abortions...meant to shock the viewers. It's a liberal theatrical move...unnecessary action to increase viewership...exploiting the fact that these people died in a war they oppose.

I guess I do have a problem with it!

BTW, I would dearly LOVE to see a full page color photo of Osama Bin Laden's head on a pike...dripping blood and drawing flies!
 
Thank you, this seems like an unbiased account based on what I've heard from you and VoR after this. While I'm not sure about Fonda, I think Kerry did the right thing and exactly what I would have done. If he really did stuff like that it would take a lot of guts to admit it and if stuff like that is happening it should be reported and shouldn't be allowed to continue. We are supposed to be the good guys. It is his right and duty to protest the war if he disagrees with it and it seems like that's what he did. I do think that if he called all troops baby killers, then that was wrong, it was horrible how they were treated coming home and they must have been demoralized coming home from war and being hated by everyone. It would be sort of like if we assumed that all troops in Iraq were like the ones in Abu Grahb. But for him to point out what was happening was the right thing to do.

And I really wish we would have uncensored news coverage of what was actually going on. We have some people saying it's horrible over there, then the people saying it's going great now. Some people say that the Iraqis hate us and some say they love us for ousting Saddam from power. The news should show us everything happening, the actual war, the results, and all the people dead, who will never be seen again.
 
Yes, I do think that those images should be allowed to be viewed by the public.

I think that seeing a coffin draped in an American flag would add a human, emotional aspect to the fallen. It's not just a number.
 
It depenRAB on the reason of showing it. You have to ask yoruself that today when the mainstream News and Information is 70% just a propaganda machine of an emerging Communist government.

I can not remember the quote but I enjoyed it on a morbid level...

It went as far as to say that a Coorporation ran government is the best definition of Communism...

That is not the qoute but I do believe the actual quote looked more like USA than Russia did 30 years ago.
