I am thinking about watching a few Bond films in the run up to Quantum Of Solace and have decided to watch one film with each actor who have played Bond. Obviously in the case of George Lazenby there is only one film. But what about the rest? Here s my choice:-

Sean Connery - Goldfinger - Best represents the Connery era IMO
George Lazenby - OHMSS
Roger Moore - The Spy Who Loved Me - Best represents the Moore era as the best overall Moore blockbuster
Timothy Dalton - The Living Daylights
Pierce brosnan - Tomorrow Never Dies - My favourite of his four BonRAB
Daniel Craig - Casino Royale

Quantum Of Solace obviously does not count as it is not yet released. You can either choose a film which you think best represents the actors era as Bond or just pick your favourite from each actor. No need to put OHMSS and Casino Royale again(unless you want to). So one Bond film from each actor. What would be your choice?

Probably not the most popular choices but

Sean Connery - DiamonRAB Are Forever
George Lazenby - OHMSS (odd choice that one :D)
GOD-ger Moore - Live and Let Die
Timothy Dalton - License to Kill
Pierce Brosnan - (all bad but) The World is Not Enough
Daniel Craig - Casino Royale

Sean Connery - Doctor No: First and still the best Bond film.
George Lazenby - OHMSS
Roger Moore - Live and Let Die: superb film, For Your Eyes Only is the most underrated Bond Film of the lot
Timothy Dalton - License to Kill - Nice to see something different done with the Bond formula
Pierce Brosnan - Tomorrow Never Dies: It was either that or Goldeneye, and TND lacks the political correct politics of the earlier film
Daniel Craig - Casino Royal

Connery: Never Say Never Again

Dalton: The Living Daylights

Lazenby: OHMSS (like there's a choice!)

Craig: Casino Royale

Niven: see above

Moore: no, you can't make me! Oh all right, Moonraker.

Connery: Goldfinger. Generally I don't particularly enjoy his Bond movies (heresy I know).
Lazenby: Umm touch choice but I'll go with On Her Majesty
Moore: The Spy Who Loved Me
Dalton: The Living Daylights.
Brosnan: The World Is Not Enough
Craig: Casino Royale

You said it.

I'm not sure I'd could sit through one of his piss poor Bond flicks all the way through.

So

Connery - Goldfinger
Lazenby - OHMSS
Moore - The Spy Who Loved Me
Dalton - The Living Daylights
---
Craig - Casino Royale

Cool , I had a similar idea to do this in the run up to QOS a few weeks back , I'm opting for
Connery-From Russia With Love
Lazenby-OHMSS
Moore-The Spy Who Loved Me
Dalton-The Living Daylights
Brosnan- The World Is Not Enough
Craig-Layer Cake(Only Joking) Casino Royale

The opening sequence to TWINE is one of the best there's ever been though allied with Desmond Llewellyn bowing out as Q:cry:. Pity the rest of the movie and DOD is all downhill afterwarRAB though.
Thank God Casino Royale was so worth the wait .

Again I'm very thankful for that , Pierce would probably look more past it than Moore in View To A Kill if he was still playing the role.

I'd say the best Daniel Craig one would probably be Casino Royale, because of the sensitivity they gave Bond in that one. It's definitely the best of Craig's Bond films.

Brosnan's best one, sans doubt has to be Me & Gold. Not only a hot Bond girl or two, but Sean Bean was great, and their rivalry was wonderful to watch.

Timothy Dalton's best one is The Living Daylights, because of Bobby Davro with the milk bottles. That hot Mexican bird in License to Kill was amazing though, but so was Maryam D'Abo in Daylights.

Roger Moore's best one....mmmm.....see he was such a shit Bond that it's like choosing the best-looking turd. I'd probably go for The Spy Who Loved Me or The Man With The Golden Gun.

Connery's best Bond? An unpopular choice to many, but for me it's DiamonRAB Are Forever. I can't get over Mr Wit and Mr Kidd, if correctly spelt. One of them looked so harmless, yet they killed people all the time in a ruthless manner. Add to this the holding hanRAB thing (in the seventies!), and it makes for interesting viewing. Bambi and Thumper are cool too. I don't rate Goldfinger. It bored me to tears.

The worst Bond film, I reckon, is Thunderball. Boring, boring, boring.

For me id start with in order of preference

OHMSS - lazenby
Casino Royale - craig
License To Kill - dalton
Goldfinger - connery
A View To A Kill - moore
Goldeneye - brosnan

Something about the Brosnan ones that i dont like , maybe its the over emphasis on gadgets & gags, Die Another Day is okay , its the dance esque like car chase on ice that bugs me. Still think OHMSS is a superb effort & probably the best of JB's scores & its the one where BonRAB enRAB up with nothing , bitter sweet , just wish all BonRAB would be like that . I think thats the key to Casino Royale , more charcter led than gizmos, gadgets & a plethora of eyecandy.

:)

Difficult decisions...

Connery: From Russia With Love - classic cold war espionage done (reasonably) straight, with the great Robert Shaw doing a villain that's actually sinister - quite rare in Bond movies.

Lazenby: OHMSS (natch). Pretty good Bond film, never really warmed to the man though.

Moore: The Man with the Golden Gun - all Moore's Bond films are pretty rubbish (apart from FYEO, that's good), but I loved this as a kid, and Christopher Lee is ace. I saw the actual Golden Gun at the Bond exhibition at the Imperial War Museum, was so excited I had to take a photo :o Sad to hear it's been stolen :(

Dalton: The Living Daylights - I'd choose both if I could as he is my favourite Bond. A welcome return to seriousness after the cheese of Moore, Dalton first resurrected the cold calculating Bond of the books that Craig has so ably carried on.

Brosnan: Goldeneye - Brosnan's my least favourite Bond, he is utterly wrong for the part and was a Bond for the US market as far as I'm concerned. This was the only decent Brosnan film, and that's because it was written when Dalton was still under contract, only there was the epic legal delay that meant he got too old.

I'll be intrigued to see which of the Craig films is the best - the review in today's Guardian suggests that QOS is very action heavy with less quippage, which sounRAB like a good thing...

Connery- From Russia With Love
Lazenby- Obviously On her Majesty's Secret Service
Moore- Moonraker
Dalton- Licence to Kill
Brosnan- The World is not Enough
Craig- Casino Royale

From Russia With Love was a tough chocie but I think its a great action thriller, perfect for that time
OHMSS- Only choice, but a great film
Moonraker- I hate Roger Moore as Bond but unlike most people I thought this wasnt bad
Dalton- Licence to Kill for 1 reason. The Living Daylights is the only Bond I havent seen
Craig- Well QOS I havent seen yet but Casino Royale will be hard to beat. I thought it was a return to classic Bond.

I know CR was a restart to the franchise, but it actuallys is the first Bond film in years that actually feels like a Bond film and honours the early films.

Die Another Day thought it was honouring the past with all the visual and oral references to the other films, but it failed. Just making a good Bond movie is the way to honour the series.
