New York is roughly 3000 miles from Seattle. When it is 10:00 a.m. in Seattle, it is 1:00 p.m. in New York.

a) estimate the rotational speed of the surface of Earth

b) Estimate the circumference of Earth.

c) Estimate the radius of Earth.
 
a) 3000 / 3 = 1000 MPH finding using distance vs time travel

b) 24/3 x 3000 = 24,000 miles finding using ratio of 24 hrs to 3 hrs = circumference : 3000 milts

c) 2 x 3.14 r = 24000, therefore r = about 4000 miles
