A circuit with an electromagnet, soft iron sphere, Centi Second timer and gate is set up.
The sphere is placed close to the electromagnet and S is switched on to position (1).
a) Describe and explain what happens.
b) Switch S is now moved to position (2) and the sphere falls. Explain.
c) Describe how : i) The time of the fall ''t'' is measured
ii) the distance ''h'' is measured.
d) The initial velocity of the ball is 0m/s. If the distance ''h'' is 1.0m and the time of fall is 0.45s, calculate a value for ''g''.
