My teacher taught the class some relationships between kinetic energy and gravitational potential energy.
The relationship could be described as:
Ek = -1/2Eg
Ek = -Eg
Et = 1/2Eg
Et = Ek + Eg
What I dont get are equations regarding Ek (kinetic energy) and Et(total energy).
One equation says Ek = -Eg and the other one says Ek = -1/2Eg.
What's the difference between these two equations?
And also,
Et = 1/2Eg
Et = Ek + Eg
How is this possible? Shouldn't there be only one equation that explains the relationships between these different types of energy?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
