To empty a flooded basement, a water pump must do work (lift the water) at a rate of 1.90 kW. Assume the pump is wired to a 240 V source and is 70% efficient.

How much current does it draw?

What is its resistance?

P = 1900 watts
V = 240V

How much current does it draw?
P = V * I
I = P / V = 1900 / 240 = 7.92A

What is its resistance?
V = I * R
R = V / I = 240 / 7.92 = 30.32ohms

Hope This Helps
