PHP vs Ruby: I'm confused!?

Hey Guys, I am good at mathematics and plan to build a huge site like tweeter or facebook for that matter. But the problem is that I have short period of time between now and the time I want to implement my plans. I was reading a PHP book by David Powers and I just love the language and then I started reading about Ruby. Which one should I go for? Keep about the future in mind. Thanks
