PHP v. Python - web development/programming?

New member
New to programming with no experience whatsoever but do consider my self a tech savvy. Wanted to know what language I should learn in order to do web development and programming. I know some of you will say python is more for applications and php is more for web development, which begs the question to should I learn both, only one cause it overlaps with the other? Or first one and then the other? Also, plz!! If you know, above all..some advantage and disadvantage for each one? Like easiness, security, etc.thx
